The NCC MATCA Council met on Friday 18 September 2026, followed by the General Assembly on Monday 21 September. Both meetings covered the centre’s current position, opportunities to put its research results to use, and its future direction.
Participants reviewed the financial overview and use of funds, the results of subprojects completed in 2026, and the new subprojects DP012–DP024.
Another topic was the commercialisation of NCC MATCA’s research results. Discussions focused on the role of the Business Development Manager, the assessment of technologies with potential for a spin-off company, and the criteria and timeline for potentially establishing one.
The meetings also presented the findings of a survey of technological priorities in laser, additive and plasma technologies, conducted as part of the strategic project Advanced Manufacturing Technologies towards 2035. Participants reviewed the five highest-ranked priorities and discussed how the findings could inform the development of new NCC MATCA projects.
